What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. I recommend at least 3 sessions to really benefit from the treatment, but it is of course up to you how many sessions you want to invest in.
- It reduces stress and increases relaxation
- Reiki treats at the root cause and not just on the surface
- It can help reduces pain (physical and emotional)
- It can promote better sleeping
- It can support the immune system
- It leads to an overall balance on a physical, emotional and spiritual level
What to expect in a Reiki session:
Thinking about trying Reiki and wondering what your first appointment will be like? First I will sit down with you to discuss your reasons for being there and ask what your intentions are. I will then ask you to lie on the massage table, fully clothed with your shoes off and covered with a blanket for warmth. I will place my hands on your body using gentle hand movements to channel energy, starting with your head and then move along your body and finish with your feet. The vital energy force will be channeled through the practitioner (in this case, me!) to your energy field.
